Do I have an Eating Disorder? 5 Questions to Ask [Video]


Have ever found yourself asking the question: Do I have an eating disorder? If you have here’s some things to keep in mind: there are important distinctions between a strict but manageable diet, and habits that are so strict they can lead an eating disorder.  Eating disorders not only impact how someone eats, but they also affect a person’s physical and emotional wellbeing.  Below are 5 questions to ask yourself about your own relationship with food, eating, and weight management.

  1. Do you have any habits or behaviors related to food that you couldn’t imagine living your life without?
  2. Do you avoid social situations because of your fear that there may be food present?
  3. Do you spend a significant amount of time planning your day around food or planning what you’re going to eat?
  4. Do you actively avoid, or does it stress you out the idea of eating a large meal with a group of friends?
  5. Do you ever diet or restrict your food intake to the point that you feel unable to control yourself when you do finally start to eat?
