Resources From Our Therapists to Help You Manage Stress During the COVID-19 Pandemic

manage-stress

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all of our lives in ways that none of us could have predicted. As we begin to adapt to new routines, habits, and ways of being, it is important to take time to reflect on what these changes mean for us, and what we can take away from this shared experience. This uncertain period certainly creates anxiety and makes it difficult to manage stress. However, it also provides us with a unique opportunity to strengthen and improve upon various skills, as well as explore and discover new methods of self-care.

We here at myTherapyNYC are committed to helping you do exactly that and providing therapeutic support along the way. All of our therapists are continuing to see clients through teletherapy services, and as we social distance from one another, we are all working hard to find new and creative ways to interact with clients and provide consistent quality care to our community.

That’s why we put together this list of resources with topics ranging from mindfulness to parenting to dealing with anxiety. These are resources that we ourselves are using to navigate this difficult time and that we recommend to clients based on their emerging needs. If you find yourself struggling right now, we hope these suggestions will help you.

  1. These are great resources! I am taking advantage of my yoga studio’s virtual sessions during this time, as most gyms and studios that offer classes are providing virtual options for their members. It’s also a great way to stay connected to your community!

  2. This is an amazing list of resources! With so much uncertainty, new and different stressors, and lack of access to our usual self-care and social support resources, it is an important time for us to find new ways to stay grounded and engaged. I have been spending extra time doing grounding activities like cooking and stretching and have found a lot of comfort in podcasts (I recommend “Sugar Calling”).

  3. These resources are so helpful and 7 or 8 months into the pandemic, I feel that these tools are still so prevalent and important to utilize. I found that it was helpful to have a list of resources and things to do that provide stress relief and take the one that fits the emotion that is coming up most for me that day. This whole pandemic and the ways to navigate it are not linear, it is so fluid – our tools should also reflect that.
