Prior to going into private practice, Joseph worked at the HIV/AIDS outpatient clinic at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. He has experience working with diverse populations and individuals of all economic, cultural, ethnic, spiritual, racial, sexual and gender identities.
In his practice, Joseph utilizes an eclectic therapeutic approach deriving from several theoretical models including Psychodynamic, Relational, Gestalt, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT). He integrates methods and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to individual needs.
Joseph focuses on the here-and-now and uses the client-therapist relationship as the foundation for healing and growth. His style is active and he works collaboratively with clients. Joseph’s goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and supportive atmosphere in which he and each of his clients can together gain a better understanding of the client’s past and present day difficulties.
