How to Become a More Positive Thinker

positive thinker

Do you find yourself stuck with your own negative thinking patterns? Are you someone who struggles to see the positive side of life occurrences? Do you notice that your negative thoughts often impact your self-esteem? We all know the feeling of a negative morning mood spiraling out of control and impacting the rest of our day, so, what can be done about this?

One of the most significant aspects of building self-esteem is to learn to think more positively. Easier said than done, right? Negative thinking patterns are hard to break, but they are both undesirable and destructive to our daily lives. Negative thinking affects you as well as the people around you, and nobody wants to be the downer of the group. With a little insight into your own thoughts and the motivation to change, you can adjust these patterns to become a more positive thinker.

The first step is to recognize your negative feelings. Once you’ve determined these feelings, you are ready to take the steps toward more positive thinking! This will, in turn, increase your self-esteem and make you a happier person to be around. Here are some tips to promote more positive thinking in your life:

  1. Notice, and place emphasis, on the things that DIDN’T go wrong today
  2. Incorporate more positive experiences in your daily routine that make you happy such as:
    • Exercise regularly
    • Make time to meet up with friends
    • Listen to music when walking to your next daily appointment
    • Meditate or find another relaxation technique that works for you
  3. Recognize and live in the moment
  4. Write down one positive thing about your life in a journal
  5. Lift others up: point out positive aspects in other people’s lives
  6. SMILE & LAUGH often

These basic self-care techniques will help encourage you to break your negative thinking patterns. It may be helpful to set small goals each day to start incorporating more positive thinking and positive experiences into your daily life.

  1. @ NIKKI

Turning the ‘Negative Chatterbox’ is difficult for me sometimes, but it’s something I can learn. Being pessimistic is useless, it eats energy out and it doesn’t help preventing the negative in life.

  2. Turning the ‘Negative Chatterbox’ is troublesome for me now and again, however it’s something I can learn. Being critical is pointless, it eats vitality out and it doesn’t resist keeping the negative in life.
