The short answer: You’ll be sitting in a comfortable chair listening to music and watching attractive, abstract moving visuals, or if you prefer, closing your eyes.
The system will be reading the electrical activity on the surface of your head (your EEG) via five sensors attached to your scalp and your ears. By very brief pauses in the music, NeurOptimal® will be giving your brain information about what it’s doing – in real time – that your brain will use to tune itself to its potential.
Because the brain is involved in virtually everything we do, when it optimizes itself people typically experience widespread benefits such as better stress management, better sleep habits, improved job performance and much more.
Most people find the sessions very relaxing.
You can expect your appointment to last about 45 minutes.
The long answer: There is more detailed information about what your NeurOptimal neurofeedback sessions will be like on the Neurofeedback – What to Expect page of the New York Neurofeedback website. You can also read more on the site about neurofeedback in general and the various things that people come to our office to see change.
