CHRISTY O’SHONEY, LMHC

Senior Psychotherapist | Clinical Supervisor

Christy (she/her/hers) is driven by a curiosity and compassion for the human experience. She believes that many of the problems explored in therapy are based on protective defense styles developed early in life. Although these defenses may no longer be useful, Christy believes it is necessary to use a non-judgmental lens to gain an understanding of how they were formed. Christy creates a warm and authentic environment for clients to explore these ideas. Her integrated approach is person-centered and psychodynamic. As such, she works from a collaborative framework to guide individuals towards a more nuanced self-structure. She sees her role as being a facilitator of exploration while recognizing that her clients are the experts of their own stories.

About Me

Central to her philosophy as a therapist is the belief that change occurs through experience. Working from an attachment-based perspective, she offers reflections of experience, thoughts, and emotions as a means of strengthening self-awareness. Her objective is to increase hopefulness and self-compassion in her clients and to provide a satisfying sense of direction for their lives.
