Joe Zagame (he/him/his) is a the Founder, Executive Director, and a psychotherapist of myTherapyNYC. In his work with clients, he believes that mental and emotional suffering is best healed in the context of a safe and caring therapeutic relationship. Drawing on an emotion-focused and relational psychotherapy style, Joe sees the client-therapist relationship as the foundation for healing and growth.
Before launching myTherapyNYC, Joe began his career at the HIV/AIDS outpatient clinic at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where he provided care to individuals navigating complex medical and emotional challenges. Since then, he has worked with an array of individuals and couples from diverse economic, cultural, ethnic, spiritual, racial, sexual, and gender identities. His style is active and he works collaboratively with clients in order to create a safe, comfortable, and supportive atmosphere for you to explore past and present-day difficulties.
Joe is a certified Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) couples therapist and is Level III trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). Joe is also a Certified Group Psychotherapist and facilitates two process-style gay men’s therapy groups. Whether working with an individual, a couple, or a therapy group, Joe focuses on the here-and-now and aims to help clients experience the healing power of connection in real-time.
