No. We encourage group members to participate in individual therapy in tandem with the group. Individual therapy can help you explore and unpack what triggers you during group sessions.
One of the special benefits of the group therapy experience is recognizing that many of your feelings are shared by other groups members. To further alleviate your concerns, each group member will have the opportunity to speak with one of the group therapists for a private initial discussion prior to the start of the group. This conversation provides an opportunity to address immediate concerns and generally alleviates some of the anxiety and discomfort that can occur when entering into a group. Consistent attendance and participation in the group also allow for members to get to know one another and develop trust in one another. Many find that meeting with others who are experiencing similar issues can be comforting, and this often sets the stage for discussing one’s own difficulties among familiar faces.
We welcome performers from all different stages in their career, from newcomers to established professionals to transitioning/transitioned artists. We hope to have a diverse group of individuals that can learn from one another.
To get started, please fill out this questionnaire and we will get back to you and answer any questions you may have! Before you join the group, we would have an individual initial session to assess if the group is right for you.
