This Gay Dating Support Group will focus on the specific issues related to dating, relationships, sex, and intimacy that gay men face. Each meeting will focus on a theme (i.e. “coping with dating exhaustion,” “developing your online persona,” “the art of seduction,” etc.) and members will share their experiences with other gay men, learn valuable dating skills, work to improve self-confidence and manage anxiety in dating, consider desired dating outcomes, understand how the signals they send are being received, and practice the vulnerability and intimacy skills that are the key ingredients for developing healthy relationships. We will also make space to address specific dating stressors that have arisen during the pandemic.
Our Gay Men’s Therapy Groups are interpersonal/process orientated groups that focus on the here and now. These groups are ongoing and the commitment for those groups are at least 6 months. This Dating Support Group for Gay Men is a time-limited experience ( 8 weeks) and it focuses on romantic relationships, sex, and intimacy. In addition to sharing your experiences with other gay men, you will learn valuable dating skills that will improve your sense of self-confidence, manage your dating anxiety, and understand how others view you online and in person.
Each weekly discussion will be based on a particular theme; some themes will include “Coping with Dating Exhaustion,” “Developing Your Online Persona,” and “The Art of Seduction.” The format of each session will be largely discussion-based. Facilitators will help lead discussions, and members will always choose whether or not they would like to share. In addition, there will be a workshop component where members practice dating skills related to each week’s theme.
This group will help you to feel more comfortable and confident approaching the dating process. Activities and discussions will also help you to develop your own sense of self-worth in your search for a deserving match.
It is important that members be able to attend at least 6 out of the 8 sessions. Members who sign up will receive one pass, meaning you can miss a session without penalty. Any subsequent missed sessions will incur a missed session fee.

We encourage group members to participate in individual therapy in tandem with the group. Individual therapy can help you explore and unpack what triggers you during group sessions. If you already have a therapist, the group facilitator will ask to collaborate with your individual therapist to best support you and your needs. And, some members choose to work individually with the same therapist who runs the group. By observing how you interact with others and how you act one-on-one, your therapist can continue to help you resolve any interpersonal issues you are struggling with.
One of the special benefits of the group therapy experience is recognizing that many of your feelings are shared by other groups members. To further alleviate your concerns, each group member will have the opportunity to speak with one of the group therapists for a private initial discussion prior to the start of the group. This conversation provides an opportunity to address immediate concerns and generally alleviates some of the anxiety and discomfort that can occur when entering into a group. Consistent attendance and participation in the group also allow for members to get to know one another and develop trust in one another. Many find that meeting with others who are experiencing similar issues can be comforting, and this often sets the stage for discussing one’s own difficulties among familiar faces.
Yes, of course!
You can fill out this questionnaire or book a free 15-minute phone consultation. Before you join the group, we would have an individual initial session to assess if the group is right for you.
