“Don’t post that if I don’t look good!”
At one time or another we have said some version of this to ourselves, friends or co-workers. The desire to present the best versions of ourselves online is nothing new. Even before Instagram filters existed, people were taking “MySpace selfies” — head up, camera above for the perfect angle! But today, every picture we see can be filtered or modified and it is hard to know what is real and what is a (photoshopped, contoured, filtered, etc.) creation. This often leaves us doubting our own appearances and upholding ourselves to a standard that was never real to begin with!
