Psychotherapist in Training
Carmen (she/her/hers) is a psychotherapist in training and her therapeutic approach leans heavily into relational, person-centered, and AEDP principles. She strongly believes that you are the expert in your life and her role is to use her knowledge and training to support you on your journey. Fundamental to Carmen’s approach is her belief that every one of us has an unlimited capacity for healing, resilience, peace, joy, and fulfillment. Best believe she will bring that faith and encouragement to your work together!
Carmen is a psychotherapist in training, currently completing her Mental Health Counseling degree at the City College of New York. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer, teaching psychology to undergraduate students. As an instructor at CUNY, Carmen strives to stay up to date with the latest research and techniques available to help people recover, and thrive.
Prior to training as a therapist, Carmen spent two years founding and leading a non profit organization named QueerCare. QueerCare specializes in helping transgender individuals secure free post operative services, shelter, food, advocacy, and has helped over 100 trans individuals following gender affirming surgeries. Her lived experience as a transgender latina woman, and her work at QueerCare helped her to gain a broad understanding of the struggles the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized groups face.
Carmen’s therapeutic approach centers on healing from the start, bringing out and strengthening your own resources, and helping you discover, live, and enjoy what you define as your “best life.” In the therapy room, she will work with you as a team to surface your true, authentic self, tackle any goals that you have, and celebrate you every step of the way.
