Nathaly Bernstein, LMSW

Psychotherapist

Nathaly (she/her/her’s) believes that in each of us there is the innate capacity to create meaningful and lasting change. She sees the therapeutic relationship as one where that inner strength is recognized and nurtured, through trust and unconditional empathy. She creates a space where thoughts and feelings can be unburdened, and in that process patterns can be explored and new perspectives generated, all towards healing and thriving. She maintains that self-compassion and reflection are foundational in building resilience, and she empowers her clients to uncover their own abilities in coping, adapting, and overcoming the hardships they encounter.

About Nathaly

Prior to working at myTherapyNYC, Nathaly practiced in residential and outpatient treatment settings, where she worked with adults and adolescents with a large variety of mental health issues. Her experience includes individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, LGBTQ support groups, and curriculum development for clinical programming. In each setting, she has shaped and honed how she approaches the myriad of difficulties, strengths, and perspectives each new client brings to the table.

Nathaly incorporates modalities of dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy in her work with clients. She recognizes that the path of treatment is always a collaboration between her and the client. She has specialized experience with addiction, compulsive behavior, personality disorders, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder.

Nathaly self-identifies as an MtF transgender, bisexual, White woman.
